Adult TreatmentsOsteopathy is a holistic approach to treating the bodies aches, pains and dysfunctions.

Life is tough on the body leading to problems. Today’s lifestyle makes the likelihood of back and neck pain occurring an increasing problem. Osteopathy not only treats the spine but is able to treat all areas of the body from shoulders to hands from hips to toes. Including many well-known injuries such as whiplash, tennis elbow, sciatica, joint pains including arthritic pain and the list goes on.

As well as the physical manifestations of injury or illness osteopathy can aid medical conditions that fall into the category of digestive and circulatory problems. Minor sports injuries also benefit from treatment allowing athletes and competitors to maintain their fitness to help them with their performance.

With the increasing pressures that our lifestyles demand many people find it difficult to cope with the strain. Osteopathy is a useful tool for helping people to relax and return to a point of equilibrium.

Osteopathy aims to return the body to health and a point of balance. Therefore allowing the body to heal itself.

Treatments for Children and BabiesOur Osteopaths have undergone training as part of their undergraduate degree including paediatrics meaning that they are qualified to work with children and babies. Maidstone Osteopathic Practice does work with local health visitors and midwives. Babies skeletons are softer than adults so gentle treatments are used. This form of treatment is called Cranial Osteopathy. Cranial techniques are safe, gentle and non-manipulative are and suitable for children at all stages of development from new born babies to older children. Osteopaths believe that a healthy balance of the body’s musculoskeletal framework is essential to the function of the whole body. Using gentle manipulation could help soothe and relax your baby. Treatments during Pregnancy

Treatments during PregnancyA woman’s body changes during pregnancy. These changes include the softening of ligaments, weight increase and postural changes. This can lead to additional pressure through the body causing general aches and pains including joint aches and back pain. When there is stiffness and/or restricted mobility in the pelvis, spine, rib cage, shoulders and neck it can make it difficult for the body to compensate. Osteopaths believe that the healthy balance and function of the musculoskeletal framework of the body is essential to the health of the whole body. Osteopaths utilise a range of techniques such as physical manipulation, stretching and massage plus other gentle techniques such as cranial. Osteopathy works using the principle that there may be a number of contributing factors to the symptoms and will therefore evaluate not only the area which is producing symptoms but also the associated areas that may be contributing to the issue, for example, previous injury, environmental factors and family health history.
